Building Adolescent Resilience
This interactive training explores adolescent resilience through counseling strategies grounded in the Oaklander model. Participants will engage in activities designed to increase emotional awareness, support self-expression, and strengthen adaptive coping skills. Through experiential interventions such as creative expression, reflective exercises, and movement-based activities, attendees will learn strategies for fostering resilience, enhancing self-regulation, and promoting protective factors in school and clinical settings. Emphasis is placed on translating experiential techniques into real-world counseling practice. Participants will leave with ready-to-use interventions and deeper understanding of how experiential approaches can be used to support adolescent resilience and development.
Learning Objectives:
1. Describe key components of adolescent resilience through an experiential counseling lens grounded in the Oaklander model. (Understand)
2. Demonstrate at least three experiential counseling interventions to support adolescent emotional awareness and regulation. (Apply)
3. Apply Oaklander-informed techniques to facilitate adolescent emotional expression and insight. (Apply)
4. Analyze how creative and experiential strategies strengthen protective factors in adolescents. (Analyze)

Career Counseling’s Impact on the Prevention and Restoration of Sex Trafficking
Career Counseling is powerful in preventing and restoring survivors of sex trafficking. After working at a trafficking safe house and conducting original research, it became apparent that career counseling is needed with this growing population of clients. This program will provide counselors with information regarding how career counseling can be used as a prevention and restoration method for sex trafficking and other forms of trauma. The presenters will explore how to identify the need for career counseling and creative strategies that meet client specific needs.
Learning Objectives:
1. Participants will be able to identify sex trafficking susceptibility and victimization.
2. Participants will obtain the knowledge of how career counseling strategies can both help prevent sex trafficking and restore sex trafficking survivors.
3. Participants will learn creative career counseling interventions specific to both school and clinical settings.

Culture and Addiction
Counselors must apply the foundational components of cultural humility in counseling practice. The impact of culture on addiction is evidenced throughout the literature. In this workshop, participants will gain an understanding of the impact of culture on the development of addictions. Current statistics will be reviewed. Culturally appropriate interventions and resources will be presented.
