Dr. Jamesanna Kirven Outstanding Counselor Award

This award was renamed in 2005 to the 'Dr. Jamesanna Kirven Outstanding Counselor Award,' in honor of Dr. Jamesanna Kirven, the first Certified Counselor in Texas. Throughout her life, Dr. Kriven was involved in some form of educational activity. One of her greatest accomplishments was bringing the Principles and Theory of Guidance to Texas. Dr. Kirven worked as a Counselor, Supervisor of Secondary Area Counselors, and Supervision Director of Trainees for License in the Division of Mental Health. She also served as a Senator for TCA and was a charter member of seven TCA Divisions.

A resume or professional vita may be substituted for this page if desired.

  • Give specific examples of incidents and behaviors which demonstrate superior professional achievements when compared to peers.
  • Give examples of unusual personal dedication to helping others without regard for benefit to self.
  • Summary statement of why the nominee should be the person to receive the TCA Outstanding Counselor Award.
  • A press release will be sent the newspaper and radio station of each of the award winners. Please list the address and fax numbers of your nominees local newspaper and a radio station.
  • A letter will be mailed to the supervisor of each of the award winners. Please list the name, address and fax number of your nominees supervisor.

Special Note:

  • Nominee must be actively engaged in the profession of guidance and counseling.
  • Nominee must be a member of TCA and a local chapter and/or appropriate division.
